Veterans War Memorial
American Legion Post 80 Commander Jim Graffum spoke about the status of the Ipswich Veterans War Memorial during the Veterans Day 2009 Ceremony.

He provided some history of the monument and its evolution, as well as the locations, including the current one.  He further explained that the memorial is "managed" by a group of representatives from each of the veterans organizations in town - collectively the War Memorial Committee.

He provided some initial information on a Town Meeting Warrant which is planned for the April 2010 Town Meeting which would permanently and irrevocably provide the current location, as originally intended, for the War Memorial.

Additionally he introduced the concept of some upgrades which are planned to further beautify the monument and make it an even more somber and meaningful location.  The War Memorial Committee is planning to launch a fund drive which will sell "memorial bricks" inscribed with dead veterans names to provide paving and a detailed list of veterans names.
